Homemade Peanut Butter

It's easy to make your own homemade peanut butter if you have a food processor or a heavy-duty blender. You can use peanuts in the nude or with their skins on.  You can roast them yourself (just check to make sure you don’t burn them), or you can use our chopped, pre-roasted peanuts.

Prep Time: 5 minutes (or a bit more if you roast your own peanuts)

Total Time: 5 minutes

  • 1 cup roasted, shelled peanuts (salted or unsalted)
  • 11/2 to 3 tablespoons peanut or safflower oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of sea-salt (adjust to taste)

Blend in the food processor or blender adding just enough oil to make it smooth. You can use salted peanuts and omit the salt, or omit the salt entirely with unsalted peanuts. (Add sweetening to taste, if desired.)

If you want chunky peanut butter, add chopped peanuts after you have made the smooth version.

Store peanut butter in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Use within two weeks.

Yield: about 11/2 cups of delicious, fresh peanut butter.
