Bee Pollen Granules - 100g

Our pollen is export quality and harvested from native flowers in the pristine forests of the South Island of  New Zealand and dried slowly at low a temperature to preserve all the goodness of the pollen. It is the best available!   The bee keepers are third generation bee keepers with their fathers still involved helping them in their family business. They have a very strict high standard they adhere to and only bee pollen is processed on-site in an extremely clean environment.

The exact composition and nutritional properties of each bee pollen pellet is dependent on the plants from which the pollen was collected.  Yet whilst there will be some degree of variation, chemical analysis has shown that bee pollen contains up to 200 different substances, including amino acids (the building blocks of protein), vitamins, minerals (such as  potassium, calcium, magnesium, zinc and iron) trace elements, enzymes or co-enzymes and fatty acids. It is also rich in carotenes and B complex vitamins.

Ingredients: Bee Pollen

Origin: South Island, NZ

Enjoy Me...

  • There are so many ways to enjoy bee pollen granules. Here are a few ideas: - Sprinkle over yogurt or cereal - Add bee pollen to cooling homemade granola, post toasting but whilst it is still moist and sticky. - Add to coffee or tea as a sweetener, to replace sugar. - Blend ground pollen or granules into a smoothie, or sprinkle on top. - Incorporate into raw protein bars or raw desserts. - Sprinkle pellets directly over salad - Grind pellets into a powder and sprinkle over popcorn - Grind pollen and add to a salad dressing such as a honey mustard - Use granules as a garnish on top of dark chocolate

How Interesting...

  • Most people know that flowering plants produce pollen and that this pollen is collected by bees. Bees then mix the pollen with a little nectar and other other secretions, which they then pack down into their 'honey sacks' located on their back legs. By mixing the pollen with nectar, the bees create larger particles (i.e. pellets) that are easier to transport back to the hive.
  • But that is not the end of the story for the pollen. Unlike nectar, pollen is not used to make honey, but it does play a vital role in the life of the colony. Bees use fresh pollen to feed larvae, and store the excess in honey cells. This supply of stored pollen is used to feed larvae and nurse bees when fresh pollen supplies are low.
