Organic Basmati White Rice - 3.5kg, 10kg or 25kg

Basmati, meaning 'the fragrant one' in Sanskrit is known in India as the 'queen of rice'. Traditionally grown in the foothills of the Himalayas, this aromatic rice has a delicious light nutty flavour. Its grains are longer than plain rice and lengthen further during the cooking process. When cooked, basmati rice remains dry and fluffy, making a nice bed for curries and sauces.

Unlike Brown rice, white rice does not contain the outer shell of the grain. The outer shell contains added nutrition and fibre but some people prefer white rice as it has a lower phytate content and phytates can inhibit mineral absorption.  There is no doubt that nothing compares to fluffy, white absorbent rice with curry dishes and organic white basmati is one of the most delicious rice varieties you can find.

Ingredients: Organic White Basmati Rice

Origin:  Product of India, packed in New Zealand

Certification: BioGro Organic

Enjoy Me...

  • White rice is softer and more absorbent than brown rice so goes really well with curries, stews and chilli hot pots.
  • Rinse the grain until the water runs clear. Use two cups of water or stock for every cup of rice. Bring to the boil, then turn down to simmer. Cover the pot. The rice will cook down and absorb all the water in about 20-25 minutes. Let stand for a few more minutes then fluff with a fork to finish. It's ready to serve.

After eating rice for more than 15 years on a daily basis I have been experimenting with different rices using a blind test on different people from different countries and the result was the organic Basmati rice came out a clear winner on taste and on the feel good factor, I think it is the best rice I have ever eaten, and so does my family, comparing taste with price it is more expensive but you get what you pay for generally, Absolutely superb rice in taste and texture and satisfaction
