Sodium Bentonite Clay (Food Grade, Natural)- 250g, 500g & Bulk 1kg

One of the most powerful and gentle detoxifiers would have to be Bentonite Clay. It is formed under seabeds from volcanic ash, and is a natural clay with a fine, soft texture.  Our Bentonite Clay is, sourced from a natural deposit in Australia, and it is finely milled into a silky smooth powdery clay which has many uses and health benefits.   Harvest and production is a simple process of - harvest, dry, mill, and package, with absolutely no chemicals used.

People have used bentonite clay to remove impurities on the skin, such as oils, and toxins from the body for thousands of years. Bentonite clay is present in many skin products, but some people also add it to foods or drinks to help relieve digestive issues and/or removing toxins from the body.

Compliant with Food Standards Australia and NZ, our bentonite clay may be used internally or externally.  Here are a few ideas:

Drink it: Every cell in the human body excretes waste. Bentonite clay helps absorbs that waste, relieving the body’s toxic burden. It absorbs toxins before they get processed by the liver and kidneys. Toxins are also absorbed before they get backed up in the colon. This allows the intestines and colon to absorb more dietary nutrition.  Bentonite clay sweeps through the system and has been found to help cleanse and heal conditions that are otherwise difficult to combat (e.g. Dietary toxins, SIBO, Flouride contamination Toxic metals, Constipation, Diarrhea, IBS, Ulcers, Hypothyroid & Insomnia).

Mix 1 to 2 teaspoons of the clay in one cup of water (or juice). Drink the mixture and follow with another cup of water. It has also been found useful to add fibre, such as psyllium, to this process to help move the clay along through the digestive tract.

External use: Bentonite clay can help draw impurities and excess oil from your pores and assist in rebalancing your complexion and making you skin super soft. It helps your skin to:

  • Deep cleanse your pores
  • Detox your skin from chemicals and heavy metals.  (just think about the pollution in the air and the chemicals in your makeup)
  • Fight acne and blemishes.
  • Reduce the appearance of acne scarring
  • Balance overall complexion
  • Absorb excess oil and aids in ongoing sebum production

Just mix 1 to 2 tablespoons in a bowl with water or if you are feeling a little bit fancy, try apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar is antibacterial which may help alleviate some of the underlying causes that aggravate acne. Add the liquid slowly until you develop a muddy consistency. This part is not as crucial and is really up to your preference. Apply the mixture to your face or any other area and let it dry for at least 15 to 20 minutes. Wash and feel fantastic!

Clays may also be added to a bath: Add 1 to 2 cups of clay to your hot bath water and soak in it for at least 30 minutes for best results.

A foot bath: is also useful for detoxing by adding 3 to 4 tablespoons to a tub of hot water and soaking your feet in it for at least 30 minutes.

How Interesting...

  • Bentonite clays are generally classified as sodium and calcium bentonites. When bentonite comes into contact with water, the atoms and molecules dissolve and ions with negative charges develop. These negative charges cause a mutual repulsion and thus a swelling within the clay structure.
  • Calcium bentonites are known as low swelling bentonite due to their swell capacity being only 3 times their own dry volume. Instead, we offer sodium bentonite, which absorbs nearly 5-6 times its dry weight in water. At full saturation it can swell up to 16 times its own dry volume. This makes it the superior clay where absorption (for example, of toxins, metals or dead tissue) is required.
  • Both food grade calcium and sodium bentonite may be used internally. Sodium bentonite is the more active of the two clay types. Improved bowel frequency, better stool formation and decreased gas and odour are some of the benefits experienced by most people who use our clay internally.
