Mild flavor, mild crunch, and big time nutrition! Broccoli sprouts are one of our favourites.  Broccoli sprouts have a very pleasing, mild flavour, and are fast and easy to grow.

Widely held to be one of the premier super-foods, broccoli sprouts are a very good source of vitamins A, B, C, E and K, as well as Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Potassium, Zinc. They also supply carotene, chlorophyll, amino acids, trace elements, and a high protein profile. Most significantly, they are a good source of the antioxidant sulforaphane, which is believed to combat the growth of cancer cells.

Enjoy Me...

  • Add sprouts to your favourite sandwich, salad or stirfry for extra flavour, texture and nutrition. Or try them as a topping on scrambled eggs, omelette or avocado.

How Interesting...

  • Research has found that Broccoli and Broccoli Sprouts contain a chemical called sulforaphane that is an effective anticancer agent and kills the bacteria responsible for most stomach cancer and ulcers
  • Sprouting is the natural germination process by which seeds or spores put out shoots, plants produce new leaves or buds, or other newly developing parts experience further growth. In the field of nutrition, the term signifies the practice of germinating seeds, to be eaten raw or cooked.
