Cinnamon Premium Sticks (pure Ceylon, true & organic) - 20g, 30g or 50g

This Organic Ceylon Cinnamon powder or True Cinnamon originates from Sri-Lanka & not to be confused with Cassia Cinnamon. Strips of the true cinnamon tree’s inner bark are dried until they curl into rolls known as cinnamon sticks or quills. These can then be ground into powder or made into an extract. It is delicately sweet and spiced in flavour.

Ceylon Cinnamon is a sought after and widely used spice not only for it’s wonderful taste and aroma in baking and general cooking but also for it’s health benefits.

Ingredients: 100% Organic Cinnamon

Origin: Sri Lanka

Certification: USDA Organic

Enjoy Me...

  • Ceylon cinnamon quills make fantastic hot chocolate and mulled wine.
  • Cinnamon gives a delicious flavour to sweet dishes and desserts such as rice pudding, granola bars and porridge.

How Interesting...

  • Not all cinnamon is created equal. The more common cassia variety found in most supermarkets contains high levels of coumarin which can be toxic to the liver. Ceylon cinnamon contains so little coumarin that it often doesn’t show up on testing. Organic Ceylon is a higher grade product containing higher levels of cinnamon’s beneficial essential oil (i.e. cinnamaldehyde). It is safe to consume in large quantities on a regular basis, whereas cassia cinnamon is not due to its coumarin content.
  • Due to a growing worldwide prevalence of diabetes, researchers are interested in applications of natural foods like cinnamon to control blood sugar and curb inflammation. Current research exists in cells and animals showing that cinnamon can help manage diabetes. Research in humans is looking very promising.
