Millet (Hulled, Organic, Pasteurised) -1kg

Like all Ceres Organics products, Organic Hulled Millet is wholesome and pure. You can enjoy the natural deliciousness of millet the way it should be. One of the oldest foods known to man, millet is packed with nourishing plant-based goodness, including protein and high levels of dietary fibre. With its nutty, slightly sweet flavour and light, fluffy texture, millet is great in just about anything -soups, salads, sitr-fries, or as accompaniment to main dishes.

Ingredients: 100% Certified Organic Hulled Millet (Heat Treated - to meet MPI/NZ Custom requirements)

Origin: Packaged in New Zealand from imported ingredients (China)

Certification: Packed down from Certified BioGro Organic 25kg sack

Enjoy Me...

  • Mild and nutty in taste, a quick toast in the pan lends millet a delicious cashew-like flavour. Its texture is easily adapted from creamy to fluffy to suit a variety of recipes, plus it heartily absorbs liquid making it an ideal accompaniment to soak up those hearty winter stews and casseroles.

How Interesting...

  • The tiny, golden grain is nearly 15% protein, contains high amounts of fibre, B-complex vitamins and the minerals iron, magnesium, phosphorous and potassium. It also contains the amino acid tryptophan which helps regulate appetite, sleep and mood. Being gluten-free and notably alkaline, millet is a highly digestible food. And as a warming grain, it will help heat the body in cold weather.

Storage

  • Store millet in sealed plastic or glass containers in a cool, dry cabinet. You may also store millet tightly wrapped in the refrigerator or freezer. A completely filled and sealed glass jar also works well for refrigerator storage. Millet will keep for about two months when properly stored in a kitchen cabinet, four months in the refrigerator, and six months or longer in the freezer. (Note: partially filled containers can pick up moisture in the refrigerator, so it is important to fill the container completely when storing millet in the refrigerator.)
