Organic Black Long Grain Rice (Bulk, Gluten-Free) - 25kg
Black rice is unmilled rice, meaning the nutrient-rich black husk of the rice has not been removed, so it’s better for you. The anthocyanin of black rice is higher than even that of blueberries, but with less sugar, more fibre and vitamin E antioxidants. The grain is so dark in colour because of the high level of nutrients that it contains, especially the health-promoting anthocyanin antioxidant.
Also known as ‘forbidden rice’, this wholegrain fragrant long grain rice has been revered for centuries for its unique appearance and health properties. It’s full of nourishing plant-based goodness, including dietary fibre. Its strong nutty, slightly sweet flavour is great in traditional Asian desserts, but also works well in salads and other rice-based dishes.

Enjoy Me...
- It takes a little longer to cook than white rice because it retains its outer bran, making it slightly tougher to penetrate (i.e not overly different to cooking brown rice).
- To shorten the cook time, I normally soak black rice in water for around 30 minutes prior to cooking. If soaked, cooking takes around 30 minutes, whilst unsoaked takes closer to one hour.
